SoothSki's Data Analysis for Der Weisse Rausch

English Deutsch

Below are instructions to configure your phone and the Sensor Logger app for Der Weisse Rausch. The app records basic sensors available on your phone during the race (GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, and barometer). SoothSki’s advanced data analysis will transform your raw sensor data into detailed performance insights — so you can relive every moment of your race! Participation is optional, but every recording helps us improve the quality of race insights for all participants.

Data is recorded using the Sensor Logger app (data policy), which collects sensor data on your device and transmits it to SoothSki for analysis. SoothSki processes this data to extract performance metrics (e.g., maximum speed, acceleration, impacts, climbing pace, aerodynamic efficiency, number of turns) and generate individualized reports associated with your bib number. Individualized reports linked to your bib number will be shared with the event organizer, who will send them to you directly. The event organizer will erase the reports after transmission. Raw sensor data is not shared with the organizer, and the event organizer does not provide additional personal information from the racers to SoothSki.

We treat personal data as confidential. Any public outputs, research, or publications will use anonymized or aggregated results so individuals cannot be identified.

By using the app and recording your race, you agree that your sensor data may be collected and processed for performance analysis. You understand that your data will be used to generate an individual performance report, which will be shared with the event organizer to deliver your personal results to you.

Your data may also be used in anonymized or pseudonymized form for research and development purposes. No identifiable personal data will be made public without your explicit consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the organizer.

If you are not in the study, make sure you join it first (see Step 2). You can start recording minutes to hours before the race, it will just create a bigger file. We can handle that!

Place your phone in a chest pocket. Chest pockets are best for data analysis.

Step 8: Race!

Keep your phone in your chest pocket and race! Good luck!

Step 9: Stop Recording

When finished with the race, tap Stop Recording. Tap Confirm when prompted to end the recording. You can upload your data now on cellular service or wait for wifi access.

Again, you can do this step hours after the race.

Step 10: Upload your Data

If you waited to have wifi access, go in the Recordings tab, click on the recording for the race and click on Upload. You have to wait in the app for the recording to be uploaded, otherwise it will give you an error message.

We will compile and analyze the data over the next few months. We will send you the results through the race organizers.
